I am Jerika,

I am a Registered Nurse currently working full-time as a PCU nurse in a hospital setting. My passion for nursing began in 2010. At that time, I was uncertain about my educational path until a friend recommended that I take a CNA course, noting the consistent job opportunities it offered.

Following this advice, I enrolled in a three-day fast-track course similar to the one I am now offering.

After successfully passing the Prometric state exam on my first attempt, I eagerly started my career as a CNA in a skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center. It was during this period that I discovered my true passion for nursing—providing tender, compassionate care and receiving patients' gratitude was deeply rewarding.

Subsequently, I accepted a position as a patient care technician in a hospital, which provided me with unique and valuable experiences distinct from my previous role. This exposure solidified my resolve to pursue a career as a nurse.

Being able to support patients during their most vulnerable moments brought great fulfillment to my work. I advanced my education by becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and later a Registered Nurse (RN). Balancing my journey with the responsibilities of being a mother to four children and a wife presented challenges, but I overcame each obstacle to achieve my goal.

Today, I am committed to giving back to the community by offering the same guidance and support I once received from my family, friends, and colleagues. My aim is to help you achieve your nursing career aspirations and watch you thrive.

CPR /BLS Certifications

CPR /BLS Certifications

The Florida Board of Nursing emphasizes the inclusion of CPR skills in CNA training and requires a practical component for certification, many healthcare employers require CNAs to obtain a BLS (Basic Life Support) certification at the Healthcare Provider level to ensure they are adequately prepared for patient care in a medical setting. CNA BLS certification must be obtained from the American Heart Association.

What Is the Difference Between CPR and BLS Certification?
While both CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification involve learning life-saving techniques, BLS is a more advanced level of training primarily for healthcare professionals and first responders. CPR certification is generally for the general public or those in non-healthcare professions.

CPR Certification
CPR certification focuses on basic CPR, AED use, and general first aid. It is intended for laypersons, individuals in non-healthcare professions, and those who need basic emergency response skills. The scope of CPR training includes recognizing cardiac arrest, performing chest compressions and rescue breaths, and using an AED. For example, teachers, coaches, or daycare workers are often required to obtain CPR certification.

BLS Certification
BLS certification includes CPR but also goes further, covering advanced airway management, team dynamics, and the use of medical equipment such as bag-mask ventilation. It is designed for healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, paramedics, and first responders. The scope of BLS training provides a deeper understanding of cardiac arrest and respiratory failure, preparing professionals to manage more complex situations. For instance, a nurse, paramedic, or doctor would typically need BLS certification.

Basic Life Support (BLS)
The American Heart Association’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize life-threatening emergencies, deliver high-quality chest compressions, provide appropriate ventilations, and use an AED effectively.

Who Should Take This Course?
The AHA’s BLS course is intended for healthcare professionals and other personnel who must be able to perform CPR and basic cardiovascular life support skills in their workplace.

What Does This Course Teach?
Participants learn high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, the Chain of Survival with emphasis on BLS components, the early use of an AED, effective ventilations using a barrier device, the importance of teamwork in multirescuer resuscitation, and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for both adults and infants.

Course Completion Card
Upon completing all course requirements, participants receive a BLS Provider Course Completion Card that is valid for two years.

Why It Matters
BLS certification is a crucial skill for CNAs and other healthcare providers, ensuring they can respond effectively in emergency situations within their work environment.
